Section 77
Giving instructions to stop work

(1) If, through inspection or any other source, it is found that an immediate threat to the safety and health of workers or other persons has arisen or may arise in the workplace of an establishment, the office may instruct the employer to immediately stop work at such workplace.
(2) When giving instructions according to sub-section (1), the cause and basis of danger must also be disclosed.
(3) When giving instructions according to sub-section (1), if the office finds that any equipment in the workplace is not suitable for operation or use, it may order not to use such equipment and when giving such an order, it may also seal or seal the equipment or any part of it.
(4) If the office gives instructions to stop the work according to sub-section (1), the employer shall immediately stop the work.
(5) An employer who is not satisfied with the instructions given by the office in accordance with this section may submit an application to the department within seven days of receiving such instructions.
(6) The department shall decide on the application made under sub-section (5) within fifteen days.
(7) Work cannot be done during the period as per sub-section (6). But if the office informs that there is no immediate danger to the safety and health of the person during that period, the work can be resumed.
